WHO IS JIM MOWERY?
First, I am a husband to Cathy and a father to Jim and Alex. I graduated from Purdue University and Valparaiso University School of Law. Cathy and I chose to make our home in Albion in 1997. I have been practicing law in Noble County for over 20 years, both in private practice and in the following appointed positions:
· Attorney for Noble County Plan Commission
· Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney
· Attorney for Noble County
· Deputy Public Defender
I believe that contributing to the community is important. Over the years, I have been involved with:
· Apple Festival of Kendallville (Current Vice-President)
· LEAP of Noble County
· United Way of Noble County
· Noble County Bar Association (Past President)
· Noble County Sheriff’s Merit Board (Past Vice-President)
· Noble House Ministries
· Albion Rotary (Past President, Past Assistant District Governor)
· Noble County Republican Central Committee (Past Secretary)
HAVE I EVER RUN FOR OFFICE BEFORE?
In short, no I haven't. I have been a life-long conservative Republican and have been active in the local party for several years, but I have never run for any elected office before now.
WHY AM I RUNNING?
Child Molesting cases should not be dismissed, or have charges greatly reduced. Drug Dealers should not be given little to no consequence for peddling their poison. Domestic Battery offenders should not be allowed to avoid justice. I refuse to sit back and see another story in the newspaper of injustice in our county without doing everything I can to change things. I believe strongly that all of our actions should result in consequences; especially when an action violates the criminal law.
During 2016, numerous citizens, community leaders, law enforcement officers and local politicians approached me and asked me to run for the office of Noble County Prosecuting Attorney. I was reminded of a wise old friend who once told me that, as attorneys, there may come a time when we owe it to the community in which we live and work to run for political office. After carefully considering all of this, discussing it repeatedly with my wife and close friends I have decided that running for this office is the right thing to do.
WHAT WILL I DO IF ELECTED?
The Prosecuting Attorney's office, in my opinion, should be a reflection of the values of the County in which it is located. Therefore, after having met countless citizens and discussed the values of those who live in Noble County, I would like each of you to know that if elected, I WILL:
· Strive to hold criminals accountable
· Fight for victims of crime
· Pursue common sense justice in every case
· Work with law enforcement to protect our community
· Remain mindful of our community’s values
· Take an active role in jury trials
· Remain active in the community
· Listen to your concerns
